In 2009, Capital won a school-record 26 games en route to the NCAA "Sweet 16", which marked the third time the Crusaders had reached the NCAA tournament with Hamilton on the staff.
Before coming to Capital, Hamilton spent a season as the head boys basketball coach at St. Marys Memorial High School in St. Marys, Ohio. Prior to that he was the assistant varsity boys basketball coach for three seasons at Hilliard Davidson High School.

Hamilton is also responsible for game management of Capital football and men's soccer.

The Marion, Ohio, native played for four seasons and coached for another season at California University of Pennsylvania. Hamilton helped lead the Vulcans to three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships and a pair of trips to the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament. Hamilton has both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from California (Pa.).
