    Database of the Month: Grove/Oxford Music Online 


    Grove_OxfordGrove/Oxford Music Online is the access point for the 8th edition of Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the authoritative resource for music research with over 60,000 articles written by over 6,000 music scholars.     

    This database also includes The Oxford Dictionary of Music, The Oxford Companion to Music, The Encyclopedia of Popular Music, as well as Grove Music Online, which has articles from New Grove, Grove Opera, Grove Jazz, The Grove Dictionary of American Music, and The Grove Dictionary of Musical Instruments

      The 1st Floor Lobby of the Library is a 24-Hour Space. To enter the building after hours or to remain in the building at closing, you must have a current Capital University or Trinity Lutheran ID with you.
    • Just-In-Time Research Assistance

      Librarians can help you get a start on your assignment, get past a mental roadblock with your research, or give you a tour and overview of helpful library services. Stop by the Reference Desk to ask a question or for more in-depth assistance, schedule a Research Consultation.

      Reference Desk Hours:
      Monday - Thursday: 10 am - 8 pm, Friday: 10 am - 4 pm, and Sunday 4 pm - 8 pm

      Our streaming web tutorials are a great place to learn about the Library's resources or get help with your research, from search strategies to database searching.

      Library Research Consultations

      Students may request a personal research appointment that fits their busy schedule. Complete the Research Consultation Request form and a Librarian will contact you within three business days to schedule a consultation.

      New York Times

      All current Main Campus faculty, staff, and students can receive free, digital access to the New York Times.  Follow the instructions on our page to learn how to claim your free pass!


      Reserve items can be checked out at the Circulation Desk and they are available for a limited period of time.

      Group Study Rooms

      Group Study Rooms 113, 114, and 209 are available during normal library hours on a first-come, first-served basis. Group Study Rooms 211 and 212 can be reserved online, 24 hours in advance.  View the complete guidelines and descriptions or reserve a group study room here

      Orders Request

      Students may use this form to request titles to be added to the Blackmore Library collection.

      ILL Request 

      Please use this form to send a request to our InterLibrary Loan Department. Please direct any questions to the ILL Department

      Frequent User Card

      Receive one punch when you check out a book or ask a reference question. You may earn only one punch per visit.

      After receiving 12 punches, fill in your name and email on the back of the Frequent User Card. Return the completed card to a Reference Librarian and receive a free tumbler or tote bag! You will also be entered into a raffle for a gift card at the end of the semester.
