      Friday, April 7, 2017 — Capital University announced today the appointment of Tina M. Guegold ’14 as vice president for Integrated Marketing and Communications. She will begin May 9.

      In joining Capital’s leadership team, Guegold is returning to her non-profit marketing roots, and to her roots as a Capital University alumna. Guegold comes aboard the leadership team during a surge of renewed excitement, momentum and sense of urgency for purpose-ready higher education, as inspired by Capital’s dynamic and visionary president, Beth Paul.

      President Paul is building an executive team whose expertise, convergent thought, connections, and shared belief in the Columbus- and Bexley-based University’s mission, is challenging the status quo in higher education leadership models for the good of students, employees, alumni, community and society.

      “I believe Tina is the ideal person to lead the telling of the Capital story because she exemplifies it,” Paul said. “Tina is an agent in the rise of Columbus — one of Capital’s 19,000 Central Ohio alumni lifting this region up to new heights every day. She is CapFam, and she continues to improve her community in her personal and professional life. With purpose. That is the Capital story, and she will help us tell it in new and compelling ways.”

      As the University’s chief communications and marketing officer, Guegold will be responsible for the leadership and integration of a broad range of public relations, communications and marketing activities to advance the strategic direction and positioning of the University. She will lead Capital in increasing and strengthening the University’s reach with a compelling and coherent brand; maximizing the collective power and synergy of aligned internal and external marketing and communication opportunities; and leveraging innovative approaches to draw people, including prospective students and families, alumni, donors, learning partners, employers, faculty, to be part of the success and impact of Capital.

      The span of Guegold’s accomplishments in executive leadership, strategic marketing, brand management, communications and advancement across science, technology, industry and non-profits — many of them driving forces in the Columbus Region’s momentum — amplifies Capital’s commitment to place, community, and cultivating purpose-ready students, alumni and employees through transformative higher education.

I have built a career shaping some of Columbus’s most dynamic institutions, and I am eager to join President Paul’s leadership team and help carry out her vision for my alma mater.”

      A respected senior leader, marketing strategist and community member in Columbus, Guegold currently is vice president for marketing at Nationwide Realty Investors, the development affiliate of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. Since 2007, she has led marketing planning, brand development, communications, digital media strategy and residential sales for an expanding portfolio of real estate and business brands, local and national, including the Arena District, Grandview Yard, Jerome Village, Rivulon and Parks Edge.

      She also brings to Capital extensive experience and passion for mission- and purpose-driven non-profit work, having led marketing, communication, development, and community and government relations for COSI Columbus from 2001 to 2007. As vice president of marketing and development, Guegold initiated a repositioning and branding effort that greatly grew awareness and influenced perceptions among target audiences, and implemented an integrated marketing strategy, brand identity and messaging platform that aligned a broad range of programs, offerings and audiences behind a common, compelling promise.

      Her work strengthened COSI’s identity, established a public-private partnership with city, county and corporate leaders that drove public funding, increased membership and member retention, and more. Guegold was appointed by COSI’s board to serve as interim president and Chief Executive Officer in late 2005. During that time, she guided successful operations, continued momentum in long-range planning, and ensured financial sustainability. She was a chief architect in building community partnerships with organizations in arts, education and social services to advance COSI’s mission and ensure its relevancy in a changing education landscape.

      Prior to COSI, Guegold developed her skills in the high-tech industry, serving in a number of product management and marketing roles at Symix Systems (also known as Frontstep, Inc.), an enterprise software provider in manufacturing and distribution industries. She also spent time on the agency side at Resource Marketing where she managed nationally recognized accounts, including Apple, Claris Corporation, Autodesk, Paramount Interactive, and more.

      Guegold holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies, with emphasis on marketing and non-profit management, from Capital. She has served on numerous professional and community boards, including Destination Grandview, NHL All-Star Weekend Local Organizing Committee, North Market Development Board and CATCO/Phoenix Children’s Theatre.
