With the weather turning colder and the days getting shorter, we are reminded a new season is in full swing — the season of giving.

The Student and Community Engagement Office along with the Residence Hall Association — a newly established student organization dedicated to creating a stronger and more beneficial residence hall community through programming, advocating for residents, and community service — invite the Capital community to participate in the annual Coat Drive.

From now until Monday, November 26, you will find our displays — large boxes wrapped in Christmas paper with a paper Christmas tree hanging nearby — in nearly every building across campus. Please use these boxes to donate your new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, blankets, scarves, etc. As in years past, your generous donations will be given to The Open Shelter in downtown Columbus, which will pass everything on to members of our community who are in need. Totals will be announced and items will be presented to The Open Shelter at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, November 27, at 6 pm on the plaza near Reflections fountain.

Even if you do not have the means to donate, please join us for the Christmas Tree Lighting and be a part of the Capital University electronic Christmas card! Yes, the Call Me Maybe video team is back at it. We'll provide more details soon. But mark your calendars now — don't miss your chance to participate in our newest video!
