The bass studio at Capital is designed to help students prepare for the many musical challenges and opportunities in an ever-changing music industry. The bass faculty, consisting of Professor Roger Hines, PJ Cinque, and Dr. Lou Fischer, make a conscious effort to expose students to all styles of music to ensure that they are well rounded musicians. Lessons and studio classes in double bass and electric bass provide students with the skills they will need to compete in the professional world. There are many performance opportunities available to students participating in the bass program. Student ensembles include: Big Band, The Capital Orchestra, Jazz Combos, Wind Symphony, MIDI Band, Rock Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Fusion Band, Chamber String Orchestra, and World Music Ensemble. Further, students are encouraged to participate in musical productions performed each year by our music theatre department. If you are a bassist interested in finding out more about the bass studio at Capital University, you are invited to schedule a shadow day. Your visit may include attending an ensemble rehearsal, a personalized meeting with the bass instructors, observation of classes in your major area, and a campus tour. Be sure to visit the Capital University String Day page.
