Capital University Celebrates Homecoming 2012 October 5-7

News-Homecoming-2011-CapFest-250xThis coming weekend, alumni will fill the walkways of Capital University once more. The annual homecoming celebration will provide the opportunity for alumni and students alike to connect with each other and celebrate the Capital Family.

There will be a variety of activities throughout the weekend for both current students and alumni. Beginning at 8:30 am on Friday, October 5, alumni are welcome at the Homecoming Golf Outing at the Foxfire Golf Club.

Then, from 5 to 7:30 pm, students, faculty and staff are invited to join alumni at the All-Alumni Plaza Party, where there will be food and drink served. Local band MojoFlo, featuring Amber Fisher '08, George Barrie '10, Jake Levy '09, Kevin Bourassa '08, Walter Kolhof '09, Tim Magee '10 and Charles Scott, will provide entertainment.

Directly following the plaza party at 8 pm in Mees will be the Choral Celebration, featuring World Choir Games Gold Medal-winning Chapel Choir, Choral Union, Women’s Chorus and The Chordsmen.

Saturday, October 6, will bring a two-mile Crusader Canter at 9 am, followed by the CapFest in The Capital Center Field House. With Cap Kids Korner, Cap Market, Cap Tailgating, dedication of new alumni bricks, and the Third annual Homecoming Cornhole Tournament, CapFest offers fun, activities, food and games for the whole family. Student organizations will host various events for their alumni on campus and provide different activities for the Kids Korner, Cap Market and tailgating.

At 11 am, the 1987 Capital football team will have a reunion lunch in Schneider Lounge, and the Capital Fund Trustee Society will have a reception at 1 pm in Moe Lounge. Both of these events are for invited guests only.

All current students, alumni and friends are welcome to attend the 11:30 am volleyball game, Capital vs. Heidelberg in The Capital Center Performance Arena. Following that game, fans should go cheer on their Crusaders at the 2 pm football game, when Capital takes on Heidelberg at Bernlohr Stadium. Immediately following the game, the alumni house will host a Post-Game Tailgate from 3:30 to 5 pm. The entire Cap family and their guests are welcome.

Saturday evening from 8 to 11, students will attend the homecoming dance. Students are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire to the celebratory dance on the between Renner Hall and Blackmore Library. Josh Chandler will be the DJ for the evening and there will be alcoholic beverages for students and guests over the age of 21, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and a candy bar.

All Capital students must bring their Capital ID and a valid state ID to be admitted. Students can bring up to one non-Capital student as a guest to the dance. Everyone must bring a valid state ID to enter the dance. So come, bring your friends and dance the night away.

Alumni will attend their graduating year reunion gathering from 6:30-9:30 pm. The class of 1967 will be in Moe Lounge, and the classes of 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, and 2007 will be in The Capital Center Performance Arena. Dinner will be $20 and alumni from these classes will be mingling with classmates and friends, with entertainment by alumnus Colin Lazarski in the Colin Lazarski Trio. Class photos will be taken between 7 and 8.

Homecoming festivities will come to a close Sunday morning following an 11:15 worship service at Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary Sandberg, director of Church Relations, will preach.
