Check Out Capital's Homelessness Awareness Week Events

Student and Community Engagement will hold a week of events to raise awareness about homelessness October 22-26.

 

Monday, October 22

10 am to 4 pm
Event: Signs of Sympathy: Homelessness Awareness Week
Location: P.O. Lobby, Campus Center
Event Description: Awareness will be raised around campus by passing out cardboard signs about the homeless. Pi Phi will also be standing at the fountains with signs and sidewalks will be chalked with information.

 

Tuesday, October 23

9 pm to 9 am
Event: Cardboard Town: Homelessness Awareness Week
Location: Schaaf Lawn
Event Description: Individuals will live outside in boxes for the night to live in similar conditions that the homeless do in order to raise awareness.

 

Wednesday, October 24

7 to 9 pm
Event: Building Community: Homelessness Awareness Week
Location: Schneider Multipurpose Room, Campus Center
Event Description: Members from the community will be speaking to students about what their different organizations do for the homeless as well as the reality of the situation.

 

Thursday, October 25

7 pm
Event: Care Packages: Homelessness Awareness Week
Location: Schneider Multipurpose Room, Campus Center
Event Description: Care packages will be made and donated to the homeless.

 

Friday, October 26

10 am to 4 pm
Event: Food for Friends: Homelessness Awareness Week
Location: P.O. Lobby, Campus Center
Event Description: Canned donations will be collected for Capital to donate.
