Chris Weldon, Parkhurst's Executive Chef at Capital University, loves serving tasty food that is well prepared and fresh. Since realizing in his teens how well food can captivate and enthrall people, Chris began working in the culinary field in the Cleveland area with 2 Seasons at The Cleveland Yacht Club. He worked as a chef's apprentice with the Hollenden House Hotel and as a camp cook with the United Way's Camp Cheerful.
A love of the arts brought Chris here to Capital University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1982. Chris met his future wife, Deb, while cooking at Matreoshka Russian Tea Room in Bexley. After completing his degree, Chris began working with Chef John Martin at the Christopher Inn in Columbus as purchaser and in-house artisit. Later, he joined Chef Martin at the Parke Hotel as kitchen manager. More hotel experience followed with Columbus' Marriot North and a year studying graduate architecture at OSU while cooking at night at the Radisson Hotel in Columbus. Chris accepted positions as an Executive Chef with several local catering companies including Made from Scratch (3 years), Ritz Catering (3 years), and Pierre's Catering (5 years). Other Executive Chef positions Chris has held include Ohio Wesleyan University, Nationwide Children's Hospital, and the Fawcett Center at The Ohio State University. In the 9 years before joining Parkhurst, Chris was the Executive Chef with Sodexo at COSI (The Center of Science and Industry).
Chris also enjoys his family, improvising live music, and reading as often as time allows.
