Short term disability insurance is provided by Mutual of Omaha (effective January 1, 2018). STD is designed to provide short term compensation to employees who are out of work for more than 14 days. The benefit continues until you are eligible for long term disability as long as you remain disabled. The benefit is 60% of your salary to a maximum of $1,500 per week.
Active three-quarter time or greater employees are entitled to the group policy.
The University will continue making premium payments as long as the employee is in active pay status or approved paid leave status. If the employee is on an unpaid leave of absence, please contact Human Resources for information.
Mutual of Omaha Links (starting January 1, 2018)
Long term disability insurance is provided by Unum (through December 31, 2017) and Mutual of Omaha (effective January 1, 2018). LTD is designed to provide long term compensation to employees who, due to disability, are prevented from being actively employed. After a six-month qualifying period, the plan pays qualified disabled employees 66 2/3% of the employee’s base monthly wages up to a maximum of $8,000 per a month.
