Employment Options as an International Student

International students and scholars in F-1 and J-1 status are generally not allowed to work in the United States. The restriction is the same at any school in the U.S. There are a few exceptions, however:
 

• On-Campus Student Employment 
• F-1 Curricular Practical Training (CPT) (Degree programs only. Not available to ESL students)
• F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT) (Degree programs only. Not available to ESL students)
• J-1 Academic Training
