Take a Professor to Lunch
  • Do you want to talk to someone who is an expert in your field?
Do you want to get to know your professor better?
Do you want to create that contact/mentor that you can turn to over your time at Capital for advice?
Do you want to hear about your professor’s career/life experiences?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should take a professor to lunch.

The Retention Office has designed the Take a Professor to Lunch program to promote faculty and student interaction outside of the classroom. First-Year students are encouraged to stop by the Retention Office (1st floor of Yochum Hall) and pick up a lunch ticket. This ticket allows the student to take a professor to lunch for free at the Main Dining Hall (2nd floor Campus Center) on campus. The Retention Office pays for the cost of the faculty lunch, and resident students pay for their own meal using their meal plan. If you are a commuter student not on a meal plan, the Retention Office will cover the cost of your lunch.

So how does it work? It’s simple!

Step 1. Invite your professor to lunch.

    • Stop in and ask during your professor's office hours, or before class
    • Email or call your professor’s office
    • Casually ask your professor if you see them around campus

Step 2. Pick up the lunch ticket in the Retention Office (1st floor Yochum Hall)

Step 3. Go to lunch and have a great conversation with your professor.
